Hard work from the Speedhunters team paid off as the Maximum Attack FR-S claimed top honors at this year’s Scion Tuner Challenge.

Claiming the top prize of $10,000, the Speedhunters FR-S is the favorite among this year’s judges while the Super Street FR-S claimed second and the GT Channel FR-S in third. According to Speedhunters, the FR-S is a retro-inspired build that focuses on subtle details to help make it cleaner than the rest of the competition. For example, the team shaved the door handles on the sports coupe while incorporating Nissan fender mirrors from Japan that flowed well with the FR-S fenders.

2014 SEMA Show Coverage

To complete the race-inspired look, Speedhunters went out of its way to grab a hold of some IndyCar parts including the car’s throttle pedal, footrest, dry brake fuel filler and air jack probe. Mimicking Toyota’s IMSA racecars of the 1970s, the team gave its FR-S a bright white base coat before applying the vinyl graphics which include the correct TRD stripe colors. And rather than going the now popular Rocket Bunny route, the Maximum Attack FR-S has been outfitted with a custom one-off KM4SH wide body kit, which was the only one at this year’s SEMA Show.

Under the hood, the FR-S is powered by the first Cosworth supercharger and Stage 2.0 Power Package which includes twin intercoolers that reside inside the intake manifold. Inside, the cabin has been outfitted with custom Cobra seats featuring the TRD stripes while the car rolls on Rotiform BLQ wheels with blocked-off front spokes, inspired by the turbo fans found on classic IMSA race cars.
